Attack from monsters that are apparently invisible

I am hoping to get some feedback from the administration on an issue I encountered today. Firstly, let me begin by saying that I have absolutely no problem being attacked when it is due to my own stupidity. There have been many instances when I have pushed my luck while mining and have paid the price by dying and suffering an injury. That is my fault, and as such I blame nobody but myself. That being said, I definitely cannot be blamed for what happened today. While mining a quadrant that had absolutely no monsters in it, or if there were some, they were all the way at the other end of the screen. This happened to me while mining emerald in the Glade of Oblivion. One monster in the quadrant, a loooooong ways away. I was nowhere near the periphery of the quadrant. Could not have felt safer to tell you the truth. No monster had just been killed and was spawning on top of me, as sometimes happens. Next thing I know I'm fighting not 1, but 2 Gordts. One a raider. How is this possible. How am I supposed to survive this situation with a pick in my hand, and a grey pick at that. Sure seems fishy to me. Now I have a leg wound for 12 1/2 hours, which I will refuse to heal, simply on principal. I will not pay for two scrolls to have a wound healed that was not my fault. Does this sound right to the administration ? I was already finished mining my stone and had clicked another quadrant and tried mining another stone, that was when I saw I was in combat. Who is right here and who is wrong ? Do I have an issue here, or is this something that is supposed to happen on occasion. I would appreciate some answers please. I appreciate your time.

In certain areas the monsters will attack at a greater distance. For example, in southern outpost the gungle will attack at a great distance vs. an area like wasteland of rest were they only attack at close distance. Also the mob may have snuck near you from another screen and u did not realize it..

Apparently you were in an area where they attack at greater distance. This must be the likely answer as i have never experienced an "invisible" attack from a mob in my many hours of picking, mining or fishing.

Unfortunately not healing your injury and protesting is not going to solve this issue. Summons when picking would be a better solution.

It is something that can happen. The way the monsters move is not always predictable and different monsters have different speed and different aggression levels. Monsters might also respawn right where you are. Of course starting to mine next to a monster means taking a very high risk, but even if you start mining when they are at a greater distance this doesn't mean you are absolutely safe.
