Glorious, gallant warriors! We take great pleasure in introducing to you three new factions in Faeo! Every Faean warrior has the right to join one of these new factions and to build a reputation amongst all other members as the greatest. The history of these factions and their emergence in Faeo is rooted deep in history and began after a serious conflict, the details of which can be found here, when a powerful clan of legendary warriors broke into three separate clans: the Night Stealers, the Red Axes and the Stone Lotus. Each of these newly-formed clans advocates their own laws and rules of behaviour which they believe form the true essence of a mercenary, feeding a fierce enmity between the clans. Although they have not yet come to blows in an all-out war, the clans have been in a state of cold war for decades, recruiting Humans and Magmars to their cause and turning them into professional mercenaries.

The main work of the mercenary clans is to complete the orders placed by inhabitants from all corners of Faeo. But there is a fundamental difference in the work of the mercenaries - only some of the clans dedicate their resources to virtuous work; the others have no scruples about how they make a living, be it through violence, treachery or robbery. The Stone Lotus clan of Ogriy is very proud of its traditions and principles which never run against the interests of the poor and weak. The Magmar mercenaries, the Red Axes, on the other hand, are defined solely by their complete absence of principles, believing that a mercenary should by immune to moral values and solely interested in doing what he is paid for, whatever the work might be. In the middle of these two clans comes the Night Stealers clan, with representatives on both continents, who try and maintain a neutral position, believing the most important thing to be honouring the traditions of their forefathers and preserving their memory.

Any player of level 4 and above can take up the banner of one of the mercenary clans and throw themselves into the murky mercenary wars. There is no need to leave your clan as this is classified as a reupution. You can work for more than one clan, but increasing your reputation with one will have a negative effect on your reputation with the others, so it is best to make your choice and stick to it if you want to reach the top of your mercenary profession.
Once you accept whatever assignment your mercenary leader has available when you speak with him, you will be doing the work of a mercenary. If the work offered is not to your taste, you can reject it and ask for another task. Tasks are available every 3 days until all assignments have been completed. The assignments offered by the clans are specific to each clan and their principles. So, for example, the Red Axes will have no qualms about sending you to collect debt or eliminate the competition for some Magmar magnate. And, of course, everyone knows that the Axes' most lucrative business is kidnapping mermaids. The Lotus clan, on the other hand, will send you to help farmers by destroying monsters which are pestering them and to save the defenceless from the excesses of Executioners, bandits and the Red Axes. The Night Stealers do a little bit of everything.
Once you reach the necessary reputation with one of the clans, you will receive access to their Arms Depot, where you can purchase various artefacts required by any self-respecting mercenary warrior in their tricky work. Similarly, there will be medals available.
At the same time as the appearance of these Faean legends, the Warlord has a new quest for you, Call-to-Arms. The completion of this quest will allow you to increase your city reputation and become acquainted with the mercenaries.
